Words Are Sexy

As I’ve long surmised, lexiconic erudition has salubrious effects similar to sybaritism. Well, that’s not exactly true, but you get the point. According to a new study, learning new words triggers feelings similar to those you get from having sex. Evolutionarily, this may have helped encourage language development. I wonder if learning in general also stimulates the pleasure circuits.

Does this mean that English speakers, with somewhere between 250,000 and 1 million words, have the most potential for linguistic climax? Hard to say, but we sure are precise.

This gives new meaning to the term “bi.” Bilinguals have twice the fun. And they’re smarter.

Maybe some people really do get Playboy just for the articles.

Ah, now I get it – Spelling Bee nerds don’t need to have sex.

Go get it on, read a book!
